DIY: Cheat Bow Tie

I spied this easy cheat bow tie DIY project over on The All Things Original Blog and wanted to share it with you. The project was created by Louise from Super Duper Things. I’m not sure…but perhaps in the right size these might work for groomsmen? To check out the entire project in full size, be sure to head over to The All Things Original Blog!

Custom Love Potion

You MIGHT hate me for this post. Because I’m going to show you something super cute, but kinda tough to DIY. I’ll be honest, this one’s kind of a toughie; but it’s so great, I couldn’t resist sharing!

Staci over at Sunlight Nights made an amazing six pack of beers with custom labels for her boyfriend’s Valentine’s Day gift. And it got me thinking how killer custom labels might be at a wedding. You might not be able to do a fancy die cut like Staci has done here, but perhaps you could whip something great up and print them on labels like these from Paper Source. The labels come with a template, and if your stationery designer has created something custom for you, like a sort of wedding “logo” then you could easily apply it to the labels. Getting the original labels off your beers is as simple as soaking them in water and peeling them right off.

I know… I’m really really crazy. But I love the idea. They might work for a great custom gift for the groomsmen, or a welcome gift for your out-of-town guests, or perhaps as a favor on some wine at your shower! It’s just a crazy thought, I know… but seriously, if you’ve got a LONG engagement, you might as well tackle a few DIY projects, right?

The Bachelor & Bachelorette Party

There are so many great ideas for bachelor and bachelorette parties, especially if you aren’t interested in heading to your local bar and over indulging in alcohol just because you feel obligated to. Alyssa and Alex, whose engagement session I featured here, decided to mix it up. The guys went dirt biking and the gals went wine tasting. What I love most is that they decided to hire Troy Grover Photography to capture all the great moments. I LOVE this idea! Troy went with the guys and his wife/business partner/second shooter Aimee went with the gals. Check it out:

And here’s the guys…

You all loved these so much, we just had to find out more! And alas, the lovely source is Mikela from Tie That Binds, who I JUST featured here. The “Cold Feet” label is available for purchase here in a downloadable pdf format (which of course is to be used JUST for the purchaser!)

I can’t tell you how much I love this idea…it’s a little something special for the groom.

Emerson Made

I am so excited to share with you a most delightful design studio called Emerson Made, which I found via Lily and Co. Proprietor Emerson is an absolute delight. Not only does she hand make each one-of-a-kind piece (which are also hand dyed!!!), she also styles each of her photographs, collages, and artwork. Whew! Her lovely blog is a portfolio/catalogue with just too much good stuff! (I could hardly decide which photos to share with you).

Emerson let me know that this coming Monday, her new online store, Emerson Made, will be open. She has an upcoming line of apparel which will be available at the end of the summer. I’m more than pleased to share with some of my favorite wedding worthy finds.

First off, here are a few lovelies for your big strong man. I adore these ideas for a groom. After the wedding, you can steal his boutonniere for yourself. What a delightful little memory that will come attached!

Second, here are some finds that would work for bridesmaid gifts, or perhaps for corsages for your mother dearest. Not to be redundant, but I really love the versatility of these pieces. They really CAN be used again and again!

Third, look how these lovelies can go from t-shirt to wedding dress. Swoon!

And finally…check out what Emerson Made offers for the table. I know…this may not be realistic for a wedding, but they’d be oh-s0-charming for a bridal shower. If you’re hosting the affair, buy enough for each guest and if you can resist keeping them for yourself, then offer them as favors or give them to the bride as a gift. If you’re a guest for an upcoming shower, I think these would be a rather lovely shower gift! They are custom made and can be printed with the couple’s monogram or the apropos “EAT”.

GQ: Dressed for a Summer Wedding

Not going to lie. If I were dating any of the men in these pictures, I’d feed them a few cheeseburgers. But that’s neither here nor there. Let’s all just be thankful we can aspire to this GQ breakdown on summer wares.

GQ Takes on The Tux

GQ says it’s back, and I agree. :::SIGH:::  I just hope I get married before it goes back out! I can’t get enough of the good ol’ fashioned tux these days (read: James Dean). But gals, it’s got to be done right. And this…THIS is how it’s done right:

Wood Rings?

Yes, that’s right. Wood rings. (And corian!) I’ve been a huge fan of Rob and Lean for such a long time. They are a husband and wife team who makes each ring by hand. Their starting prices are totally reasonable, they offer custom services, and the best part about their rings? TOTALLY not overdone. I think I may make my guy wear one of these when it’s our turn to don the wedding jewelry.
