I do!

At the Hitched Event, among all the amazing features, attendees got a chance to experience Smilebooth. You can see some of the pictures here, with a background provided by Confetti Systems. I thought it was so cute!

I’ve got a few great pics of our fashion show coming your way, but I wanted to add a little fun for you. If you’re thinking about having your own Smilebooth, or some sort of similar variance for guests at your wedding, look at these adorable thought bubbles on a stick available from Mr. Bubbletalk. Um…don’t they go so great with those backdrops? Get into it!

Found: Airmail Envelopes

These images by Johnny Miller were a part of a feature in Martha Stewart Weddings. It got me thinking about those vintage-looking airmail envelopes. Actually, it got me thinking about the “envelopes with red stripes on the edges” but google couldn’t make heads or tails of that search query. My digging uncovered the term “airmail envelope” and I was so proud of myself and my discovery (which MANY of you are likely to taunt me for my naivete) that I felt an obligation to share the goods with you.

It turns out airmail envelopes are easy to find, cheap, and – well, we already knew this – super cute. So if you are doing some sort of DIY stationery situation for some sort of wedding-ish event, airmail envelopes could be a REALLY fun little addition. Oh, and in case you’re wondering, the pic above is actually a regular enveloped lined with paper reminiscent of the airmail envelope. Here’s a picture of an actual airmail envelope (which I think are even better):

So yes, you can search for expensive vintage versions, or you can DIY your fingers to death by printing out and folding one of the downloadable versions I found floating around, or your stationery can design custom ones for you ($$$). OR, you can go to Amazon, and get 40 new ones for the fabulous price of $2.82. DEAL.

Just be sure to search for: “Airmail Envelope” not “Vintagey looking red and white stripes envelope”. Nothing good will come of the latter.

DIY Hot Air Balloon Kits

I received an email last week from a reader that was desperate to track down the hot air balloons from these photos by Brandon Kidd:

The hot air balloons were a handmade item that I designed and assembled for a workshop/photo shoot last fall. The vintage hot air balloon motif was so much fun to work with and since it might be something you’d like to use for your own shower, wedding, birthday or event (and per last week’s email and a few other inquiries) I’ve put together an Etsy offering for custom DIY Hot Air Balloon Kits. You could even order the stationery suite from MaeMae Paperie!

Also, I wrote an article for The Storque: Etsy’s Handmade Blog that features a collection vintage items for your wedding. It includes lots more photos from this shoot as well as a ton of great vintage finds, so be sure to check it out!

Ruffle Resource

I received a fabulous little gift in my email this morning. It was a message from Jen, our gorgeous bride in yesterday’s wedding telling me where one can score her ruffled caplet:

Hold onto your hats and glasses folks. I’d like you to meet Kate Towers.

Kate is a Portland based designer who creates one-of-a-kind pieces. You can purchase items at her Etsy shop, which she assures us will be full of new goods very soon. But when you’re a designer this good, I imagine it’d be hard to keep anything on the shelves.

Found: Birch Cones

Yesterday I received the following comment on this photo from {GREY} reader, Ashley:

I am having an October wedding with a fall theme. We are incorporating birch trees into our centerpieces and I wanted to know about the birch tree hanging basket. Are they available to purchase? I would need 6 of them for the pews at my church. Thank you!

Since birch is all the rage right now, I thought I’d look into finding where one might purchase such an item. And guess what? I found some birch cones for purchase and you’ll never believe it, but they’re affordable. I can’t begin to tell you how much my “Found” posts make me happy. I think they’re my favorite, because we’re bringing you the sources right from the photos! Here goes:

Muscari sells these cones for only $10, and they come with pre-drilled holes in the sides.

And if that isn’t enough, they sell some other fabulous little ditties to go along with the look like this ring bearer ring cushion:

And these boutonnieres:

And for very well-priced birch bark tubes (especially if you’re buying in bulk for a wedding) like these, check here.

Happy day! Thanks Ashley for the comment. I’m glad I could source these for us all!

Found: Custom Clay

Whenever I find the actual place to PURCHASE something I’ve found while perusing pictures of real weddings, I’m always overjoyed at the opportunity for me to share a new resource with you. I used the left picture from Birch a while back on the Aqua and Poppy Inspiration Palette.

That little clay egg is SO cute, right? Hmmm…where would one find such a darling little detail? Well, folks. I’ve got good news and bad news. The good news is, you can find them from uber fab designer Rae Dunn, who sells them right here. The bad news is, they are a little pricey if you were hoping to purchase one for each of your guests. But they are oh so cute… And you get to customize the words!

Found: Tree Favors

picture-64

Well, I hope you all enjoyed your President’s Day like I did–lounging around in pajamas. I wanted to start off this week with a follow up to an image I included in one of my pictorials in this post

These tree seedlings make for completely adorable favors. Plant a Memory is an online shop that sells the trees, and though they are a bit pricey, I just couldn’t resist sharing the source with those of you who might be able to afford the splurge.
