Inspiration: Where does it come from?

To follow up with last week’s post on how to find inspiration “out of the box” I thought I’d keep with the idea (because I find it rather refreshing) and share this board with you. Pink with a side of pink, I know. But hey…who doesn’t love a little romance from time to time?

Real Wedding: Alyssa and Marty

I absolutely LOVE this wedding shot by Jennifer Dery. The look is both organic and feminine and I particularly adore the “canopy” that the couple were married under.

Happy Friday, my lovelies!

Inspiration: Where do you find it?

Brides these days have no end to the number of resources available for them from which to gather inspiration. With a plethora of blogs and magazines taking care of the guess work, it has become much easier to find and set a foundation for one’s wedding. That being said, I think it is important to remember that inspiration can be found in unexpected places. It is vital to keep your mind open to what may spark the AHA! moment.

Case in point. I saw this gorgeous poster on the interwebs (from Zhou Fan)

…and I thought, What a lovely wedding would this make. Here’s an attempt at translating art into event…

So if you are undecided (or overwhelmed by the mass of wedding inspiration), go therefore and be inspired without limiting yourself to just wedding-ish stuff. Find something you absolutely LOVE and no matter where it is from or what it is, use that as your guiding force. My darling friend Jessica Claire is doing just that. Her wedding is based on a pair of shoes. What do you know?

Inspiration: Pink and Orange

These images are just so cheery, aren’t they? This is a perfect little post, as I’m in need of a little pick-me-up–this June Gloom is really getting to me. I know I’m a spoiled SoCal girl, because a few weeks without the sun has got me desperate for warmer days. How much longer must we wait???

Inspiration Request: Grey, Gold and Blush

Happy St. Patrick’s Day!!! Some of you are like, “Oh…yeah. That lame day where I’m supposed to wear green?” Some of you are like, “OH YEAH!!! That awesome day where I get to drink green beer!” Either way, it’s gonna be a good day. My sweetie is a big tall Irish man who LOVES the holiday, so around here, we care. Later today, in honor of my love, and because I’m in the mood for it, I’m posting a green inspiration board. I’ve been feeling the jeweled tone, so be on the look out.

What the heck? Let’s get to this post. I received this email below from {grey} reader, Jennifer:

We’re having an October wedding in a historic building in Providence RI. Since my favourite color is (surprise, surprise) grey, I’ve chosen a pewter/charcoal for the girls’ dresses. My mother doesn’t want the whole day to feel like a funeral, so I promised her that I’d bring in some colour. I’d like to have blush tinted flowers – sort of a warm pink. I love Saipua’s bouquets! We have collected (via ebay and the Salvation Army) teapots and coffee pots, as well as smaller sugar bowls and creamers. All the arrangements will be in those. And….that’s where I sort of come to a stand-still. I would like to add some gold in somewhere, since the rooms at the reception site have detailed frescoes in gold. But people (aka my mom) keep thinking that since we’re doing grey, I should stick with silver. But I really want to warm everything up, and I think the gold would be perfect. My dress is made of untreated silk, so it’s that natural color. I want it all to look like a ornate tea party. Good thing I still have time to work out all these details.

Well, Jennifer. I agree with your mom…no funerals. Pink was a great choice. Actually, grey LOVES every color, but I do love me some blush pink. And I agree with YOU about the gold. Good call on the need to warm it up. Maybe this inspiration board will assure your mom gold will do just the trick. Happy planning!
