sunday {fun}day: Horsing Around

This week’s sunday {fun}day idea is such a blast, I’m sure you’ll find a way to fit it into your schedule of events! If you haven’t ever been to a day at the races,  you ought to give it a try. What’s not to like? Mint Juleps? Check. Greasy food? Check. Glamorous hats and another excuse to buy a great dress? Check. Betting? Check!

You can play this any way you like it. If you’re not a late night rager, in lieu of a night out at some club around men with grubby hands, consider renting a limo and taking out all the gals out for a day at the races for your bachelorette party. You a bit of a rebel and want to bring the men along? Shine those boys up and opt for a rousing co-ed rendition. A day at the races might be a fun pre-rehearsal dinner event…or perhaps your man would spring for some betting and beer for his bachelor party.

Well, I think you get the idea. Here are some of my favorite images from the race tracks. Click on the photos for the source.

sunday {fun}day

Hi all! Happy Sunday. Hope your weekend is full of productivity and relaxation! Our Sunday Funday is a simple one this week. Ran across this Martha Stewart photo and was so inspired. If you’re one of those lucky ones who is planning on having brunch after the wedding day (hello mimosa and french toast!) then perhaps you should consider providing your guests with a crossword puzzle to get the morning started off just right. Search google for custom crossword puzzles and you’ll find several sites that offer a custom option using your own words and hints! Hmmm…If not for a post wedding brunch, I’m sure you could think of a few fun ways to use this old pastime. mwa102833_spr07_crossword_xl1

sunday {fun}day

Happy weekend! Our first Sunday Funday post HAD to be about one of my loves: dancing. As fun as it is to shake your thing to Usher, there’s something to be said for classic ballroom dancing. It is an absolute delight and regardless of whether or not you’re great at it, the whole fiasco can be such a ball to attempt, that I highly recommend it. Besides, it has a lot to teach us about relationships and what it takes to make a couple glide across the dance floor: communication, practice, leading, following and rhythm.

Even if you don’t think you’ll want to waltz on your wedding day, a quick dance lesson or two never hurt anyone…and why not make it TEN TIMES more fun by inviting your bridal party to join you? Group lessons are cheaper than private, and it would be a great opportunity for everyone in your bridal party to get to know one another before the big day. (Have I mentioned how big I am on pre-wedding activities?)

You and your beau may not be ready for Dancing with the Stars after only a few lessons, but you’ll have an absolute blast attempting the Tango. And if your not a bride, but know one, dance lessons make a GREAT gift.
