Bright and Saucy

Here’s a pretty little board with my favorite colors pulled out. Love the delightful mix of perky brights and tailored neutrals!

Spring Fling

The sunshine is finally out, but it still feels cold. I’m ready for a spring dress and perhaps a picnic. I put together a spring inspiration board, which has really given me the idea to throw a spring picnic…

*All photo sources listed below

I think the scene below is totally doable, but I realize sometimes it can be difficult to turn inspiration into reality. Sure, professional stylists, florists and designers can turn inspiration into reality. We’ve seen inspiration to reality features all over the blogosphere. But can little ol’ you? Without the help of a stylist? And HOW?

Source

Today, I’m giving you a little guide on really pulling it together on your own. Here’s a little shopping list if you’d like to throw your own spring picnic:

Aqua and floral vintage tin plates from Jen’s Closet:

Wire basket tote with ball jars from Old Ohio Farm Finds for carrying a carafe of a seasonal cocktail, and perhaps a spring couscous salad or some fresh berries:

This vintage woven picnic basket from heartfelt primitives:

Picnic Cutlery by Kate’s Paperie:

And perhaps it all ought to be spread out on this vintage chenille bedspread?

Just a little extra effort goes a long way, wouldn’t you say? Hope these finds are enough to get you started on your own search for the perfect picnic accompaniments!

Oh…and you might want to make…

…these Savory Greens, Tomatoes, and Goat Cheese Tarts from Tartlette!

Real Wedding: Jamie and Bradley

Here are some unbelievably perfect photos from Jamie and Bradley’s wedding shot by Trever Hoehne. His work is truly art and it reminds me that at the end of the day, couples are wise to choose a photographer whose work they’d really be happy to have hanging on their wall for decades. Will it stand the test of time? I’m pretty sure Trever Hoehne will.

Kentucky Derby

I miss inspiration boards. Don’t you? Well, today’s post comes from one of my fave inspiration blogs, Postcards and Pretties. She recently put together a Kentucky Derby wedding inspiration board and I couldn’t resist sharing with you. This concept is just too good. I’m obsessed with the vintage inspired award rosettes.

Be sure to check out Postcards and Pretties for tons more inspiring boards!

So, is it like every friday that I feel like it’s necessary for me to show you yet ANOTHER fab paper suite by MaeMae Paperie? Yes. I believe it is. And I won’t apologize, because every time MaeMae adds another suite to her collection, my heart does a little dance. I hope yours does too. Jiggity jig…

Engaged: Bryce and Kayla

I know I’ve said this before, but it bears repeating: sometimes all you need is a GREAT location. And of course, as long as your armed with a fabulous photographer, simple can trump just about anything else. In Bryce and Kayla’s engagement session, I particularly love all of the white space that photographer Amanda of CelebrateLife Photography utilizes. And of course, how cute is the addition of their furry family member?

What a romantic session in Palos Verdes! Hope you enjoy!

Engaged: Alexia and Luciano

I think after seeing this engagement session I could die a happy woman. Okay, that’s an exaggeration. But honestly this shoot is as close to perfection as it gets. It’s rustic, it’s vintage, it’s not overdone. Studio EMP is responsible for all of this amazing glory. The vintage rentals are from Found, a really great new resource for all things vintage! I thought that I’d also include the couple’s engagement story as well, so check that below!

Hope you enjoy!

Alexia tells us their story: We met in little bar in Newport Beach. It was a random night and my cousin was here from London looking for “surfers,” I of course was looking for nothing but as soon as I saw Luciano walk into the bar I practically called “dibs.” I took stalker pictures of him around the bar and he soon came over to talk to me. Turns out we lived in the same neighborhood and we felt an instant connection. We soon realized that the other was something we’d been looking for; same family values, culture, dark hair and eyes! We grew to love each other and our families connected over our international similarities. His family from Argentina and Spain and mine from London (Greek); we both love family, good food, wine, traveling and music. He proposed on October 2, 2009 on Newport Beach at 52nd st. He’s been surfing every day since he was 4 so that is his spot, but also where he ultimately wants to teach our kids to surf one day. He took me for a walk on the beach at sunset and proposed in a bed of roses surrounded by candles.Ā  I found out he had gone to my parents a few days prior to ask for my hand in marriage, yet another reason I love him, so traditional and respectful.Ā  After the proposal and sunset, he took me to dinner where I thought it was going to be the two of us. We walked into Sabbatinos and both of our families were there jumping up and down, crying and taking pictures. It was amazing and magical and everything I could have asked for!

Real Wedding: Christa and Jason

So thrilled to feature Christa and Jason’s romantic wintry wedding by Simply Bloom Photography! I know we’re slowly letting go of the frost, but as this is likely our last winter hoorah, I think we’re going out with a bang. Oh how I adore the bride’s hairpiece. Oh…and all the creamy furry caplets, ear muffs and gloves. Winter never looked warmer.
