Happy MONDAY! Another bright and glorious week is ahead of us. I thought I’d start the week off by catching you up on all the news and announcements. I’m sprinkling in tons of photos of paper cranes today (you’ll see why in a minute), just so you don’t go too crazy with all this boring writing.
Did you know that Japanese legend promises that anyone who folds a thousand paper cranes will be granted a wish? This beautiful bride and groom featured on Brooklyn Bride decided to do just that. (All their friends and family helped them fold over 1600 paper cranes. It makes me teary eyed just thinking about the symbolic gesture of contributing time and love to help the bride and groom earn a “wish”). Check out their gorgeous photos and be sure to read about ALL their wedding DIY projects. So inspiring. (More on paper cranes later!)
Let’s get to our announcements. (Click on each photo for sources!)
First off, Grey Likes Weddings continues to gain new readers each week, and it’s because of all you fabulous readers and bloggers that have contributed with links and word of mouth. So thank you! Because of our readership growth, we’re working on a HUGE make-over and plan to include TONS of resources for you all, so get excited and stay tuned.

Second, the winner of our Superior Rings Giveaway was actually chosen by the Superior Wedding Rings staff. (So please forgive me for the delay!!!) I am pleased to congratulate bride and blogger Monkey In a Box. (So be sure to email me to claim your prize!)
Third, how would you feel about saving the local economy? Sounds fabulous, eh? Well, check out The 3/50 Project to find out how you can make a difference. In case you were wondering, some of my fave local shops include Cotton Idea Studio and Paris to the Moon.
Fourth, if you haven’t heard about Wedding Co.‘s Chandelier of Cranes Project, I encourage you to check it out. They’re asking engaged couples to make a paper crane, sign it and send it in. For every crane that is received, Wedding Co. is donating $.50 to cancer research. It’s a global DIY project, so I encourage you to consider participating. You can follow their Crane Updates here.
Is it just me or do our giveaways keep getting better and better? Well, today’s giveaway is none other than a wedding ring!!!! What’s that you say? Yes. A wedding ring. Your eyes do not deceive you. So if you haven’t purchased a ring for your fella, I’m pretty sure this is the contest for you. Let me break it down:
Superior Wedding Rings is an online company that offers a HUGE selection of wedding rings. Their rings come in everything from ceramic to palladium, and in all sorts of shapes and sizes. Superior Wedding Rings is going to giveaway your choice of ring from their site (up to $120 in value). Here are a few samples of my faves:
If that sounds like a down deal to you (I mean, HELLO, I’m not even engaged yet and I think I’d enter!) then here’s how to enter to win:
1. Post a link to Superior Wedding Rings on your blog, facebook or myspace page.
2. Make a comment here and link to your post.
3. If you’re chosen as a winner, you’ll need to put up a permanent link to Superior Wedding Rings on your blog in order to receive your prize.
Easy as pie, gals. Easy as pie. And if you don’t have a blog, what the heck? You just might want to start one. The cut-off date for entry is Tuesday, April 28 at midnight. We’ll pick the winner at random!
On your mark, get set, go!!!!
I assure you our winners are chosen randomly…my roommate had the privilege of picking a number this morning, and she was thrilled to do so. (She says she accepts all bribes).
Congratulations, Jenn. Be sure to email grey to collect your prize.
Power cord failure put us down for the count yesterday. But I think this giveaway will most certainly make up for it. For those of you that are working on getting your new nest ready, I think you may find yourself falling in love with the fine art photography from Trever Hoehne.
Trever’s work is like Monet meets Rothko meets film. I seriously can’t name a photographer I love more than Trever. How luck am I that he’s willing to part with a limited edition print? What the heck? I want to enter this giveaway!
Leave a comment, and tell us what you love. The randomly chosen winner will receive their choice of an 8×8 print from Trever’s Blurry Things site.
Here’s a shot of Trever’s work in a gallery. This is what my walls aspire to:
This week’s giveaway is sponsored by Mia Beads, whose LOVELY jewelry is on my wish list! In order to enter the contest, as usual, leave a comment. We’re gonna shake things up a little this week though. I’m going to put your comments in a hat this week, so if you’d like to be entered THREE times, instead of just one, mention Grey Likes Weddings on your own blog, a MySpace bulletin, or on Facebook. Provide a link in the comment section, and you’ll be entered into the drawing THREE times. That’s right. Tres. Trois. Thrice. Trio. You get the idea.
Special thanks for Mia Beads for the giveaway! Check out her store for all kinds of delicious baubles. Next week, I’ll announce the winner, who’ll get their choice of the earrings below.
We are lucky enough to have yet ANOTHER giveaway for this week. Today’s giveaway comes from Mindy Gayer at Cotton Idea Studio, who has such fabulous finds at her brick and mortar store in Newport Beach, as well as her online store here. Cotton is having an AMAZING online sale right now, where you can get almost 50% off on some of their products. You must check it out!
I’ve been luck enough to work with Mindy before, and when it comes to wedding stationery, she is a consummate professional. Mindy knows all the ins and outs and is so helpful. Plus, she offers a HUGE range of products and pricing.
I’ve featured this cutie card before, but today we’ve got one to give away. Just leave a comment. If you’d like, include in the comment any stationery questions you may have. I know wording, etiquette, etc…can get pretty tricky, so later in the coming weeks, we can have Mindy help address some of these FAQs.
Hold onto your hats. This is the first of TWO giveaways for this week. Check in tomorrow morning for another fabulous giveaway as well as a DIY project that is a complete delight!
In honor of my navy blue boards today, I wanted to post this absolutely stunning clutch from Michelle at MS Handbags. Check out her blog here. This what she told me about the giveaway clutch:
: : : I’d love to offer your readers my ‘Jacqueline Clutch in Blue and Gold’. This clutch bag is the only one like it in my shop. Featuring a vintage gold button from my mother’s collection, a handmade gold silk flower, vibrant blue cotton and gold silk/cotton, this handbag is one of my favorites. : : :
If you’d like to enter, please leave a comment. We’ll pick a random winner next Wednesday! Woohoo!
