Herb Infused

So, things are very busy over here as I gear up for our workshop this weekend. I know I’m behind on inspiration requests….bear with me if you’ve been waiting. I appreciate all of your ideas and requests and want to respond to each of them.

I wanted to start off today with an inspiration board about herbs, which I think can be rustic, fresh, earthy and lovely. I LOVE throwing mint into a bouquet; not only does it look delicious, but it also smells fantastic! If you’re going with herbs, why not do some mint juleps as well? YUM! I also had a request from a reader in England, who is having an indoor wedding, due to potential rain. She wanted to bring the outdoors in, and I think herbs can be a great way to do that.

These are some snippets of ideas, but seriously, hold onto your britches. Later today, I’ll be posting an herb infused real wedding that is so absolutely stunning, there really are no words. So be sure to check back!

Inspiration Request: Island Wedding

I received an inspiration request from a reader who is getting married on an island. She doesn’t want the look to be too forced, though, so I went for a colorful palette with navy blue, aqua and a little dollop of yellow. Hope you enjoy!

Oh! Be on the lookout for this week’s giveaway announcement, which will be up later today!

Inspiration Request: Grey, Gold and Blush

Happy St. Patrick’s Day!!! Some of you are like, “Oh…yeah. That lame day where I’m supposed to wear green?” Some of you are like, “OH YEAH!!! That awesome day where I get to drink green beer!” Either way, it’s gonna be a good day. My sweetie is a big tall Irish man who LOVES the holiday, so around here, we care. Later today, in honor of my love, and because I’m in the mood for it, I’m posting a green inspiration board. I’ve been feeling the jeweled tone, so be on the look out.

What the heck? Let’s get to this post. I received this email below from {grey} reader, Jennifer:

We’re having an October wedding in a historic building in Providence RI. Since my favourite color is (surprise, surprise) grey, I’ve chosen a pewter/charcoal for the girls’ dresses. My mother doesn’t want the whole day to feel like a funeral, so I promised her that I’d bring in some colour. I’d like to have blush tinted flowers – sort of a warm pink. I love Saipua’s bouquets! We have collected (via ebay and the Salvation Army) teapots and coffee pots, as well as smaller sugar bowls and creamers. All the arrangements will be in those. And….that’s where I sort of come to a stand-still. I would like to add some gold in somewhere, since the rooms at the reception site have detailed frescoes in gold. But people (aka my mom) keep thinking that since we’re doing grey, I should stick with silver. But I really want to warm everything up, and I think the gold would be perfect. My dress is made of untreated silk, so it’s that natural color. I want it all to look like a ornate tea party. Good thing I still have time to work out all these details.

Well, Jennifer. I agree with your mom…no funerals. Pink was a great choice. Actually, grey LOVES every color, but I do love me some blush pink. And I agree with YOU about the gold. Good call on the need to warm it up. Maybe this inspiration board will assure your mom gold will do just the trick. Happy planning!

Inspiration Request: Brown and White

I received an inspiration request last week for a brown and white inspiration palette. I may be designing a posh bridal shower based on these colors, so it was really fun to put this together. My two favorites on the board? Chocolate martinis and monogrammed chocolates (which are more affordable than you can imagine!) Hope you enjoy!

Inspiration Request: Aqua and Red

My sister, Hayley, told me she’d like to see an aqua and red palette, so this is for her. If you’re looking for one that is WAY better than mine, you must check this one out at Snippet & Ink. Kathryn has such an INCREDIBLE blog and really sets the bar, no matter what. If she isn’t already one of your daily reads, you should add her immediately.
