I’ve got an afternoon delight for you today! This is Lauren and Brian, and their engagement session shot by Shannen Norman. How much do you love that they kept shooting in the rain? Braving the weather made for some really cinematic shots! Oh how I want this session to be mine…

Let me tell you what I love so much about this engagement session: Photographer Yuriy Manchik along with his beautiful subjects, Julie and Mike, picked a location that is chock full of details that come naturally to the setting. This old-fisherman-wharf-vibe is really working for me!
Special thanks to Yuriy for graciously sharing the session and a shout out to his fiance, who is a Grey reader!
Elizabeth and Jake’s engagement session is particularly special because it incorporates Elizabeth’s great-grandmother and grandmother. Photographer Erin Jean explained:
Elizabeth’s grandma hand quilted a “wedding ring” quilt in the 1920’s for her future great-granddaughter. That’s the quilt they are laying on. They are also playing with her grandmother’s camera. She was an amateur photographer and even started a photography club in Wisconsin long ago!
Wow! What an incredible gift from her great-grandmother! I think that incorporating personal elements and heirlooms like these are a very personal way to add meaningful details into your photographs. Special thanks to Erin Jean Photography for sending over such a beautiful shoot!
Photographer Taryn Kent sent over this engagement session, which just so happens to be a perfect Cinco de Mayo treat. Taryn said her team shot Tiffany and Paul at the San Luis Rey Mission in Oceanside. The couple is getting married at a Mexican restaurant in San Juan Capistrano later this year so they added some Mexican flare to the shoot. I love how elements from the wedding have been incorporated into the feel of this session!
Check out more about the vendors that contributed to the shoot! Thanks to Taryn for sending over such fun photos!
This romantic engagement session is at once simple yet beautifully styled! I adore the baby’s breath bouquet…it looks as though they found it in nature! Special thanks to Jen May Photography for sending over such gorgeous images!

I feel so lucky that I get to share this engagement session with you. Erin Hearts Court Photography is such a rock solid duo, it seems everything they shoot is absolute perfection. Meleeneh and Argam are such a darling pair, what with their cutie pie ensembles and penant flags. Oh my goodness… check out these goodies shot at the Rancho Santa Ana Botanical Garden in Claremont. There are so many more amazing pictures over at Erin Hearts Court blog if these aren’t enough.
I know I’ve said this before, but it bears repeating: sometimes all you need is a GREAT location. And of course, as long as your armed with a fabulous photographer, simple can trump just about anything else. In Bryce and Kayla’s engagement session, I particularly love all of the white space that photographer Amanda of CelebrateLife Photography utilizes. And of course, how cute is the addition of their furry family member?
What a romantic session in Palos Verdes! Hope you enjoy!
I think after seeing this engagement session I could die a happy woman. Okay, that’s an exaggeration. But honestly this shoot is as close to perfection as it gets. It’s rustic, it’s vintage, it’s not overdone. Studio EMP is responsible for all of this amazing glory. The vintage rentals are from Found, a really great new resource for all things vintage! I thought that I’d also include the couple’s engagement story as well, so check that below!
Hope you enjoy!
Alexia tells us their story: We met in little bar in Newport Beach. It was a random night and my cousin was here from London looking for “surfers,” I of course was looking for nothing but as soon as I saw Luciano walk into the bar I practically called “dibs.” I took stalker pictures of him around the bar and he soon came over to talk to me. Turns out we lived in the same neighborhood and we felt an instant connection. We soon realized that the other was something we’d been looking for; same family values, culture, dark hair and eyes! We grew to love each other and our families connected over our international similarities. His family from Argentina and Spain and mine from London (Greek); we both love family, good food, wine, traveling and music. He proposed on October 2, 2009 on Newport Beach at 52nd st. He’s been surfing every day since he was 4 so that is his spot, but also where he ultimately wants to teach our kids to surf one day. He took me for a walk on the beach at sunset and proposed in a bed of roses surrounded by candles. I found out he had gone to my parents a few days prior to ask for my hand in marriage, yet another reason I love him, so traditional and respectful. After the proposal and sunset, he took me to dinner where I thought it was going to be the two of us. We walked into Sabbatinos and both of our families were there jumping up and down, crying and taking pictures. It was amazing and magical and everything I could have asked for!
In the ongoing hunt for a great shoot location, Braedon Photography has gone and found a backdrop that is so summery and warm, I’m considering what it will take for me to find someone who can get me on the water, STAT. All you need for this incredible shoot is a killer yacht, a fab wardrobe, and some gorgeous weather! Oh…and a hot couple and a uber talented photographer wouldn’t hurt either. Thanks to Braedon for letting me share this really great session. I’ll show you a little more of the second half of this session later today!
This absolutely DARLING love shoot of Katie and Matty was styled by Lindsay Averette of LK Events & Design and photographed by Meghan McSweeney both out of Richmond, Virginia. For the shoot, they’ve throw in grade school notebooks, scrabble, a patchwork quilt, and vintage books, all set on a playground! What a creative way to harken back to the days of young love! And that ever so cute cupcake? It’s by Two Sweet Cupcakes. I hope you enjoy this shoot as much as I do!
