Lady Aloha

MaeMae Paperie just posted images of her new collection, aptly named, “Aloha!” I seem to have caught the Island Bug, which in my world means an obsession with the desire to sip on Mojitos. While in the sun. Barefoot (obviously). Specifically in the vicinity of waves and sand. You must go check out her new collection, but I thought I’d put together an inspiration board based on her little goodies.

Come check back at noon today. I have a super fun announcement!!!!

Real Wedding: Jenifer and Mat

I feel very honored to be able to feature this wedding, particularly because the bride is a bit of a blog celebrity! Rosa is behind the fabulous blog, Made By Girl (where you must go immediately if you aren’t already a reader).

Jenifer says on her blog that she and Mat wanted to prove that you could have a great time and a beautiful wedding without spending tons of money. She has tons of DIY ideas, resources and vendors, so if you’d like to find out more, be sure to check out the post on her wedding!

Special thanks to the lovely Yvonne Wong for sending over her gorgeous work!

Anniversary: Shannon and Eddie

Shannon and Eddie recently had Edmund Prieto shoot an anniversary session for them and I just can’t say enough about how pretty it is! Edmund along with Renee from OC Prop Girl styled this shoot and surprised Shannon and Eddie with it.  I absolutely adore that they took the time to string some lights throughout the scene as it got dark. And how much do you love Shannon’s hairpiece? I’ve got it on good authority that the hairpiece was made by Renee!

Edmund has done a really beautiful job capturing all the rich, warm colors…and of course the gorgeous couple! I know you will enjoy!

Found: Airmail Envelopes

These images by Johnny Miller were a part of a feature in Martha Stewart Weddings. It got me thinking about those vintage-looking airmail envelopes. Actually, it got me thinking about the “envelopes with red stripes on the edges” but google couldn’t make heads or tails of that search query. My digging uncovered the term “airmail envelope” and I was so proud of myself and my discovery (which MANY of you are likely to taunt me for my naivete) that I felt an obligation to share the goods with you.

It turns out airmail envelopes are easy to find, cheap, and – well, we already knew this – super cute. So if you are doing some sort of DIY stationery situation for some sort of wedding-ish event, airmail envelopes could be a REALLY fun little addition. Oh, and in case you’re wondering, the pic above is actually a regular enveloped lined with paper reminiscent of the airmail envelope. Here’s a picture of an actual airmail envelope (which I think are even better):

So yes, you can search for expensive vintage versions, or you can DIY your fingers to death by printing out and folding one of the downloadable versions I found floating around, or your stationery can design custom ones for you ($$$). OR, you can go to Amazon, and get 40 new ones for the fabulous price of $2.82. DEAL.

Just be sure to search for: “Airmail Envelope” not “Vintagey looking red and white stripes envelope”. Nothing good will come of the latter.

Real Wedding: K + J

There’s never anything from Brandon Kidd that I don’t love (sorry…can you handle that double negative?). Among the many things I dig about this wedding is the vintage 1930’s Lincoln that they drove away in – I’m totally a fan of renting a vintage car! Waaaay better than a limo. It’s a splurge I’m definitely gonna go ahead and vote for.

Be on the look out for the yellow claw foot tub. It has got to be a mere coincidence that it was there…right? Right? Also, be sure to check out Jennifer’s info and the vendors listed! Thanks Brandon for sending over the goods!

From Jennifer, the bride:

  • The jam jars, which also serve as the place cards, contain homemade pomegranate jam made from the pomegrantes at Kevin’s grandpa’s house where we took pictures under the tree. We had a fun jam making party with my family and Kevin’s. (Kevin’s mom’s initials are JAM and my married initials are going to be JAM!)

  • We saved oversized restaurant cans from my work and Kevin repurposed them into our table numbersOur food was provided by Green Street Catering in Pasadena – I’ve known the owner’s daughters since high school – they cooked the tri tip and chicken on site, and are famous for their zucchini bread and Dianne Salad
  • Probably the best detail of all: my dress has pockets (!) and the full skirt comes off to reveal the mini dress underneath

I spy: the backdrop to the gorgeous dessert table by My Sweet and Saucy is this DARLING shower curtain from Anthropologie! Make it yours!

Congratulations, Kevin and Jennifer!

First Day of Summer

It is official! Today marks the FIRST day of Summer. The long list of summery goodness that I’m looking forward to is quickly growing as the weather warms up. In honor of the first day of summer, I’ve got an inspiration board here to kick us off. Just for fun, if you’re up to it, comment and share what you’re most looking forward to enjoying this summer!
