Stacy of SMS Photography emailed me this morning to tell me about a bridal shoot I might want to share. It made me think: Hmmm…California girls don’t know what that is. You see, a bridal shoot is (to my understanding) a very southern tradition. The bride typically has a solo photo session with her photographer in full makeup, hair and dress, often times months, weeks or days in advance. The bridal shoot is NOT done on the day of the wedding. The photos from this shoot are so fun, it makes me realize why some brides do this–plenty of time for fun, artsy shots.
Ooohh…I love a good contrasting shoe! This is a really good idea, I wish I got to do bridal shoots with every bride, there’s just not enough time to do everything you want to do on the day of the wedding.
Love the hair, love the dress, love the shoes… all of it! I can’t imagine doing a shoot months or weeks before the wedding – but this totally looks like fun! 🙂
WOW! Fabulous bridal session. Remarkable composition and color. What fantastic bridal photography!
Thanks for sharing it with us!

Again Summer! so honored to be on here!
One great thing about doing the shoot, for you future brides, is that it does really give you a chance to check out the hair and makeup and how it will photograph. Sometimes, girls get a sample of their bouquet (usually a scaled down version) but it really helps to make sure that you are going to love the day of bouquet and lastly, the most important, you get to be in your dress for a few hours, which is great to see how comfortable you will be and if there are any other alterations that would be needed. I have had quite a few brides have modifications made to the dress b/c you actually move and sit in it for a time period and not just on that pedestal at the boutique. 🙂 Plus they are just ridiculously fun!
That’s absolutely amazing. I’ve never thought of that before…it’s like a dress rehearsal. (No pun intended…well, kinda).
YAY!!! My pal is famous 🙂
