Hi Grey! I love the idea of a wedding at a yacht club but feel sometimes nautical can get too “theme-y.” Do you have any ideas or could you put together an inspiration board for something a little different? Maybe nautical from the 20’s, 30’s, and 40’s? Thanks!
I absolutely love your blog! Anyway, I really like the idea of a wedding with a rustic chic feel to it (think barn feeling but in an upscale venue) but I’m not really sure how to pull it off without looking sloppy. Whenever I come up with ideas that seem rustic, they just seem to be too low-key for the venue, which is a gothic stone building set on a lake. The wedding will be outside between the two. Do you have any ideas? Thanks!
Hi Grey! Like Erin (3/5/09) I am also planning a wedding in a stone ‘castle’ set on a lake. I would love to see what ideas you come up with for her. I loved the “Lakeside Vintage” inspiration but there wasn’t enough color for me. I’m having a hard time finding a happy medium between the formality of the castle and the more relaxed atmosphere outside by the lake.
Thanks for the amazing blog posts! I look forward to reading them every day!
hey grey-
fabulous site! I love it. I definitely check in daily! For our August wedding we’re getting married in a forest-y area in Ontario, Canada…so far we’re thinking grey (bridesmaids are choosing their own grey dresses) and green. I was thinking yellow flowers, a mix match of vintage mason jars and milk glass vases for centerpieces.
A woodsy inspiration board would be amazing!
Great work!
Love your website – absolutely perfect for bridal inspiration!
I’m planning a wedding in the English countryside for Labor day weekend in a Georgian manor house . I am a little stuck on the style, due to the time of year and the venue. Given high chance of rain in England, the reception will be indoors in a ballroom (fingers crossed the weather holds up for cocktails on the terrace). I’m loving all the outdoor wedding pics you’ve posted but I am wondering if they’ll translate indoors…
Do you have any inspiration boards for indoor weddings? Which season would you stick to for this time of year (not quite fall but clinging on to the end of summer)? I’m flexible on colors but leaning towards slate blue/gold/navy or green and black. I’d love to see any inspiration boards you’ve got for indoor weddings and/or this time of year.
Thanks so much for the email. I will start working on a board for you right away! Look for something next week. i think your ideas are great so far, and I’m thrilled to come up with something for your vision.
Hi Grey/Summer,
You may not remember me, but we are acquaintances through CBU (I was Allison Helene’s roommate 05)…which is how I found your site and I just adore it!
Anyway, I just got engaged on Saturday!! We will be getting married this October – its always been my dream to have a fall wedding. Here is what I’m thinking for wedding colors: light yellow/gold and grey (I’m thinking the groomsmen in grey suits & bridesmaids in yellow)! With possibly an accent color being a dark vintage-y green.
I’d like a very classy/vintage wedding but chic as well…I could really use some help on decoration/centerpiece/flower ideas! We are leaning towards an outdoor reception in the evening…I love all the pretty lighting ideas out there!
Your creativity is much appreciated!
~Michelle
HI Grey!!
Love your site!! Im getting married in September and i think i want to do a palette of grey, raspberry, and plums. Although I love the apple green color Im not sure if that is too much. Can you help me? I am a visual person so maybe an inspiration board would help. Thanks!!!
hello! as a bride who is not really a ‘bride’, i have really enjoyed your thoughts, ideas and site. a question: what kind of wedding jewelry to wear? i am having a barn wedding in vermont, late june. i am wearing a simple coren moore wedding dress in dotted tulle. the whole thing is casual- attire is ‘formal picnic’ and we are having upscale BBQ (yum) as dinner. any ideas about jewelry? i am not planning on a necklace so earrings and my rings will be the only accessories- oh and maybe a silk hair flower…. any help would be much appreciated.
thanks~
Hello,
I’m getting married this fall in Marin County, Ca and I am trying to search for what types of flowers I want to suggest to my florists. I want mostly white with a bit of yellow. I want vintage romantic looking flowers and am not sure what flowers fall into that category! Have any ideas?
Thank you!
Hello! I just LOVE your blog. I check it almost daily & I remember seeing a card a few weeks ago saying something along the lines of, “I can’t wait for you to be my husband.” I am having trouble finding it???
I think I have a doozy for you. My husband and I had a small intimate wedding weekend in Scotland and would like to have a second wedding in the States for all of the family who could not attend. My sister-in-law has been married before and is also planning a wedding. While we were in the States on holiday, the idea of a double wedding came up. She likes lighthouses. I’m thinking rustic barn reception. How do you marry the two?
Love your blog and thanks in advance for your help.
I’m a huge fan of the blog! I especially love the Cali weddings (I’m located in Cincinnati, Ohio, so the sunshine and beaches really make me long for some West coast!)
Anyway, I’m currently planning a vow renewal for my parents (married for 21 years). We’re just having a simple ceremony in the backyard with my siblings and close family friends. We like the idea of red roses, lots of candles, and simple apparel.
I’d love to see ideas for vow renewal ceremonies on GreyLikesWeddings. Although we’re keeping it simple, some additional inspiration is very welcome!
Keep up the great work. I am inspired daily by the blog.
Hi! Love your site. It’s becoming an addiction. I would love love love to see some information devoted to city hall weddings, or NYC elopements. Can you help?
Dear Grey,
This blog is the reason I started to fall in love with all things wedding.
I am currently planning my sisters wedding, and it is so much fun. It is in a barn in Sonora, Ca and has an incredible rustic feel.
We are drawing so much inspiration from your blog, and I am so thankful for it!
I am now a (new) fellow wedding-blogger! Thanks for the inspiration, maybe one day my sisters wedding will be featured here! Maybe not
Anyways, keep the love flowing. Thanks.
-Emily
